Three Village Historical Society
Historical House Criteria
 

The Three Village Historical Society may designate any structure a local historical landmark if, in the determination of the Historical House Marker Committee, any one of the following factors is applicable:

  1. The structure is at least 60 years old
                           and

  2. The structure is the site/location of an historic event that has contributed in some way to the broad cultural, political, economic or social history of the Village, Town, region, State or Nation. 

  3. The structure is identified with an historical person/people in Three Village history. 

  4. The structure embodies a distinctive architectural characteristic of a type, period, style or method of architecture or engineering unique to the Three Village Area. 


This is the Historical House Marker Program. The criteria for eligible locations do not apply, necessarily to the parcel of land, but rather and more specifically, to the structure itself. If your property is an historic building but was moved from its original spot to its present location, then you are still welcome to apply. Newer (less than 60 years) builds in historic areas will not be considered for this program.
